MPLS: Red Stag Supper Club (for Brunch!).
I like spending time in cities other than my own - checking out shops, restaurants, cafés, parks, real estate and getting a sense of what the place is all about. I've got family in the Midwest, so twice a year my little family heads to Minneapolis for a few days to visit and check out the area.
I've been to Red Stag Supper Club in Northeast Minneapolis a couple of times - once for dinner with my hubs and the most recent time for brunch with both of our families. When you show up to a place with a scattered group of 12 people including a two-year-old and seven-year-old who just got out of church, you just want a restaurant that's going to deliver on quick and easy service with good food and an atmosphere that's comfy, mellow and loud enough to cover the giddiness of the children.
If you can get all those things, you're golden. If you can add things like enviro-forwardness (Red Stag was the first LEED-CI certified restaurant in MN), local and organic ingredients, local beers and wallet-friendly prices, you feel like you hit the jackpot. And that's how we felt after our brunch.
This place delivered on everything we wanted and then some.
