Farm Party to Celebrate a Special 40th
I'm a sucker for a good farm dinner, so when I started planning out my husband's 40th birthday party, I knew this was going to be the *perfect* way to celebrate with family and friends. So I started scheming with his boss who owns this beautiful farm about an hour west of Minneapolis and this is how it all came together!
The day was absolutely amazing - warm, sunny, light breeze, no humidity. For August in Minnesota, this is highly unusual. The setting was incredible - two red barns, gorgeous open fields, baby animals, cows, chickens, roosters... it's a real farm, so we got real a real farm experience!
We called the event "Out to Pasture," a kind of cheeky nod to getting older. (I credit my writer husband for that one, and also to absolve myself from seeming too mean.) I created a logo of sorts to include on the menus and other things like custom coasters. I didn't get great pictures of the menus or coasters, whoops! The coasters were so cute and had half a dozen different photos of my husband as a child - most of them had some kind of cowboy or farm theme.
I kept the table decor simple - just burlap runners over white tablecloths with fresh eucalyptus and greenery aside dozens of little tea lights. The menu was simple and hearty, filled with local ingredients. (We used Chowgirls, and had the BEST catering experience!)
Yes, there were hay rides too.
Aaaaaaaand, a baby piglet!!! Seriously, the cutest little thing you've ever seen.
The night ended with everyone up in the barn loft for a dance party. I didn't get any photos because I was busy dancing! Needless to say, it was the perfect night.
