Noah's Ark on a Train.
After completing this fun commissioned piece, my client emailed and told me her friend described the painting as Noah's Ark on a train. We'd been calling this a circus train throughout the process, but the two giraffe heads sticking up really do make it feel like Noah's Ark! I had to laugh (and actually took away a pretty valuable lesson) because a fresh set of eyes will always be able to notice something I didn't.
I love working with other people to make my work better. I have a few "go-to" folks who definitely see a lot of terrible ideas sketched out and gently give me the necessary feedback, but I've also opened up my creative process to friends on facebook and have gotten some stellar ideas from people who are totally fresh to a project!
Lessons aside, I really love this painting and want to expand on the idea and get a similar piece up in my shop. What do you think?
